The challenge

ScooterMania is an established mobility shop in Nottingham, supplying new and used mobility scooters, recliner chairs and other mobility products to customers across the local area.

They already had a great local reputation and a physical shop in Woodthorpe, but their website wasn’t doing the business justice. It consisted of just three pages – Home, About and Contact – and had never been properly optimised for search and couldn’t easily be updated by the team.

We were initially brought in to design and develop a new website that would better showcase their products, be easier for customers to use and give the ScooterMania team more control over their own content.

Alongside the website build, we saw a much bigger opportunity to improve their local search presence and turn the site into a stronger source of enquiries.

Our approach

1

Planning the New Website

We started working with Scootermania in November 2025, looking at their products, customers, competitors and how people were searching for mobility products across Nottingham.

Mobility scooters were an obvious priority. They’re one of Scootermania’s most important product areas, so we focused our initial research on the searches being made by people looking to buy or hire scooters locally, before looking at the wider product range.

The existing three-page website gave us very little scope to target these searches, so we planned a completely new structure around the products Scootermania sells and the way customers actually search for them.

We also needed to consider who would be using the site. A large proportion of Scootermania’s customers are older and may not be particularly confident online, so keeping the website clear, simple and easy to navigate was important from the start.

2

Building for Customers and Search

Rather than building the website first and adding SEO afterwards, we considered search visibility throughout the design and development process.

To keep the initial investment manageable, we launched with eight core pages covering the most important areas of the business, while creating a structure that could easily be expanded over time.

Scootermania doesn’t sell directly through the website, but customers can browse its range, see pricing and enquire about individual products. We kept navigation straightforward, made product information easy to understand and created tailored forms so customers could enquire directly from the relevant page.

The site was built on WordPress, giving the Scootermania team much more control than they had previously and making it easy for us to continue developing the website as the SEO campaign progressed.

3

Building Local Visibility

The new website launched in January 2026 and our ongoing SEO work started immediately.

With a physical shop and an established reputation in Nottingham, local search was a major opportunity. We focused on increasing visibility for the products Scootermania most wanted to sell, while also improving its presence within Google Maps through ongoing Google Business Profile optimisation.

Alongside this, we’ve worked on technical SEO, page content, metadata, internal linking and CRO, with mobility scooters forming the initial focus before expanding into other product areas.

This joined-up approach has helped Scootermania become much more visible when people in Nottingham are actively searching for the products it sells.

4

Growing the Website Over Time

We deliberately didn’t build a huge website upfront. Instead, we used the ongoing SEO campaign to expand it gradually, adding new product, category and landing pages based on search demand and the areas most likely to generate enquiries.

Each month we monitor rankings, organic traffic, enquiries and Google Business Profile performance to see where we’re gaining traction and where the next opportunities are.

This means the website isn’t a finished project that was launched and left alone. It continues to grow alongside Scootermania, giving us more opportunities to target valuable searches and bring new customers into the business.

The results

Since the new website launched in January 2026, we’ve seen strong growth across organic visibility, local search and, most importantly, enquiries.

680% Increase in Online Enquiries

Between January and August, tracked online enquiries increased by more than 680%, making this one of the clearest measures of the impact the new website and SEO strategy have had.

This only includes enquiries we’re able to track through the website. Scootermania’s owner has also reported a big increase in phone calls, as well as the shop being noticeably busier since the new website launched and SEO work began.

From Almost Invisible to Page One

Before we started, Scootermania had very little organic search visibility. Since launch, the number of keywords the website ranks for has increased by 4,400%, including the local, purchase-led searches we set out to target.

Organic sessions have increased by 129% between January and August 2026, with engaged organic sessions increasing by 138% over the same period.

Importantly, that growth is translating into enquiries rather than simply bringing more traffic to the website.

Top of the Map Pack

For a business with a physical shop, Google Maps is just as important as the standard search results. Scootermania now holds #1 Map Pack positions for “mobility scooters Nottingham”, “mobility scooters in Nottingham” and “mobility scooter hire Nottingham”.

Since April, Google Business Profile interactions have increased by 26%, profile views by 42% and the number of searches showing Scootermania’s profile by 52%.

This means more people searching for mobility products locally are finding Scootermania before they’ve even reached the website.

More People Searching for Scootermania

We’re not only seeing growth from people searching for mobility products. More people are now searching for Scootermania by name too.

Comparing the latest three months with the previous three, clicks from branded searches have increased by 129%, while branded impressions have increased by almost 59%.

For a local retailer, that’s a useful indication that increased search visibility is helping more people discover and remember the Scootermania name.
